The Callas House building was originally built in 1881 on behalf of Zsigmond Komperz, a prominent merchant and banker. The designer of the neo-Renaissance palace, William Freund, followed European architectural trends to create an impressive building that is now one of Budapest's imposing historic buildings. 

At the beginning of the 20th century, Charles Seemann opened his famous café at the bottom of the building, which later became known as Windsor and also functioned as the office of the Anglo-Hungarian Bank. The ground floor of the building regained its café function in 2006, then it was renovated in Art Deco style under the hand of renowned interior designer David Collins. Collins' name is associated with international design, and he is known as the designer of famous venues such as Gordon Ramsay's restaurant in London and The Ritz Carlton apartments in Bangkock.

Callas House opened in 2016 as a boutique hotel, also designed by David Collins Studio.
